Farmers Market Bag McCalls 6297

I decided to make McCalls M6297 view D as my farmers market bag. I really like the bag but, I must warn you it is huge. I could fit a ton of fruits and veggies in this bag. The pattern calls for one exterior pocket and two interior pockets to hold tall bottles. I decided to make all my pockets on the inside. I also added a couple inches to my strap so that I could wear it cross body. The pattern was easy to follow except for the lining instructions. They were a little unclear. Other than that, I enjoyed the pattern and will make it again.
I used burlap and lightly interfaced cotton fabric.

VW Beetle Makeup Bags

I really wanted to make a small makeup bag and incorporate the beetle somehow. I apparently have a beetle obsession.I began by self drafting both patterns. The first is your basic squared bottom zippered bag. The second is a long rectangle puch that folds over and closes with a loop and button. I love how quick and easy they both can be made up.
I accomplished the applique with the help of my husbands drawing skills. He drew me a sketch, and I traced it onto my fabric and cut it out. Next I zig-zag stitched it onto my interfaced bag fabric. I free hand cut out and sewed on some windows and wheels, and my bag was complete.
I'm really happy with the end result.
